How to spot signs of abuse

As a childcare professional, you have a responsibility to the children you care for and, because of your close contact with them, you may be the first person to spot early signs and symptoms of abuse.

What to do if you have concerns

If you have concerns follow the procedures on the Berkshire Child Protection Procedures Online website.

Allegations about a Colleague or Professional

If you have concerns or suspicions about a colleague or professional/carer (including volunteers), you must report them. Talk to a Manager or Designated Professional and also contact the Wokingham LADO for advice and support on Telephone: 0118 974 6141, email: LADO@wokingham.gov.uk or LADO@wokingham.gcsx.gov.uk (if you have secure mail)

If you are concerned about the safety or welfare of a child please phone.

  • Referral and Assessment Team (Children's Safeguarding and Social Care Team: telephone 0118 908 8002 or email: triage@wokingham.gov.uk. You will also need to complete a multi agency referral form (see below).
